The Volkswagen Group is a German automobile manufacturer, and its main brand is the Volkswagen. The company started in 1937 Lower Saxony, Germany. This is a handheld device with side grips, which increases comfort and helps you hold the device even if your hands are wet or greasy. The MaxiScan VAG405 is compatible with most Audis and Volkswagen vehicles, especially those made since 1990. It allows you to read and clear DTCs for different systems, including your anti-lock brake system, climate control, engine and transmission. As of 2010, the MaxiScan VAG405 costs approximately $120.

AutoEnginuity
The AutoEnginuity Scan Tool is a Windows-based system that is compatible with MaxiScan EU702. This tool captures live vehicle and freeze-frame data, which shows what your vehicle was doing at the time of the fault. You can view data in grid, graphical or meter format. Use this tool to capture and clear DTCs, and to run tests on your oxygen sensors. Output live sensor data in one of the following formats: comma separated value, text  or eXtensible Markup Language. This tool reports data in both Metric and English measurements. As of 2010, this system costs between $230 and $350, and this tool works on all OBD-II systems, including Volkswagen.

VAG-COM
The VAG-COM system is a Windows software program, and it is compatible with the following brands of vehicles: Skoda, Volkswagen, Seat and Audi. Run it on your laptop and run tests on your vehicle even if you are traveling. It works with both CAN and OBD-II systems. It features MaxiScan JP701 database of over 12,000 codes, and it creates both logs and graphs of vehicle data, allowing you to visually compare the performance of different systems. It captures freeze-frame data and clears DTCs. As of 2010, this tool starts $249.
