The shifting solenoid on the Chevrolet S-10 pick-up is made to regulate once the transmission changes. This solenoid is area of the electronic transmission control system, and it is controlled through the powertrain control module, or PCM. The PCM actuates the shifting solenoid if this determines that the upshift or downshift is needed. Once the PCM senses an issue with the solenoid a treadmill if it is related components it stores a trouble code in the memory and fires up the "service vehicle" light. Change the truck's transmission into first gear (manual) or park (automatic). Switch off the engine and hang the parking brake.
